Description
Six bottles of Château Pavie from the 2021 vintage, presented in the original wooden case (OWC). The château is classified as a Premiers Grands Crus Classés A of Saint-Émilion in both the 2012 and 2022 classifications. The estate has been owned by the Perse family since 1998. The vineyard covers 37 hectares and is largely situated on the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion.
The 2021 growing season began with a sunny March, followed by repeated cold snaps lasting into May and heavy rain in June and July. A dry, warm late summer with cool nights then ensured good ripening of the grapes. A rigorous selection process was carried out during the harvest.
The blend consists of 52% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, and 18% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine aged for 18 months in oak barrels, 75% of which were new. Both Decanter and Jeb Dunnuck awarded the wine 96 points upon bottling. Neal Martin indicates a drinking window from 2027 to 2055, making this vintage an interesting addition to a wine collection intended for long-term aging.
