Description
Six bottles of Château Cheval Blanc from the 2021 vintage, each packaged in its own original wooden case (OWC). The château in Saint-Émilion has 39.5 hectares of vineyards, divided into 55 plots, each of which is vinified separately. The winery’s rich history is reflected on the label, which still features the medals from the 1862 London World’s Fair.

The cool and wet growing season of 2021, with spring frosts and a limited yield of 28 hectoliters per hectare, resulted in a small harvest. Approximately 73,000 bottles were produced from this vintage. The blend is dominated by Cabernet Franc, complemented by Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine aged for 16 months in new oak barrels.

In 2021, Cheval Blanc announced that it would no longer participate in the Saint-Émilion classification. This vintage is still subject to the 2012 classification and thus holds Premier Grand Cru Classé A status.

The wine was rated 97 points by Wine Advocate and 96 points by Decanter upon bottling. Wine Advocate indicates a drinking window from 2027 to 2055, making this vintage an interesting addition to a wine collection intended for long-term aging.
