The Alfa Romeo 33 is a compact car from the Italian brand Alfa Romeo. The 33 succeeded the Alfasud in 1983 in the compact front-wheel-drive mid-size car segment. The name “33” refers to Alfa Romeo’s Tipo 33 race cars from the 1960s and 1970s.
In 1985, a station wagon version of the 33 was introduced under the name 33 Giardinetta, and a 4WD system became available. In 1987, the 33 received its first minor facelift (Series II), and a 1712 cc engine became available. The 4WD system was discontinued, and the station wagon’s name was changed to 33 Sportwagon.
