# 100631 - 15
User marks/damage and wear all around by age/mileage.

The Trabant 601 S De Luxe was a version of the Trabant 601, a car produced in the GDR by VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerke Zwickau. The 601 was built from 1964 to 1990 and was the best-known model of the Trabant series.

S The Luxury Trim: This was a more luxurious variant that included better upholstery, trim, sometimes chrome details, and extra comfort features over the standard version.

a rare Trabant 601, ééone of the very last 2-stroke cars’produced by VEB Sachsenring around the fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9, 1989. Although the car was issued a Fahrzeugbrief in the GDR on November 15, 1989, it was never officially registered at the time.

A few more 4-stroke Trabants were built after the fall of the Wall, but compared to Western cars’s of the time, they were obsolete. This example therefore has a special historical value as the last 2-stroke model.

In the ’90s, the car was sold to Sweden, to the friends of the Jännaholm Museum, where it remained in original condition until 2024. Import to Sweden was done through Bilprisma Rantzow AB (current Porsche dealer in Malmö) with a pre-registration (blank license plate) on July 4, 1990. The vehicle received an official license plate, but was not registered at that time. In 1997 the car was sold by Bilprisma Rantzow AB to the museum, where it has remained unused ever since.

It was not until 2024 that the car was officially registered for the first time when purchased by its current owner. The car is still in exceptionally original condition, with an actual mileage of only 123.4 km.

Documentation:

  • DDR Fahrzeugbrief from 1989

  • Sweden pre-registration documents (1990)

  • Transfer documents museum → current owner (2024)

  • Notes:
This is a unique opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts of historic GDR cars’s. The vehicle is completely original and largely untouched since production, making it a valuable collectors' item with tremendous historical significance.
