Andy Warhol
(Pittsburgh, August 6, 1928 – New York, February 22, 1987) was an American artist, film director, and author. Warhol also worked as a music producer and actor. With his background and experience in applied arts, Warhol became one of the protagonists of pop art in the United States in the 1950s and 1960s. He is also referred to as the silver prince of pop. Warhol is especially famous for his flat and contrasting paintings and screen prints of packaged products and everyday objects such as Campbell’s soup cans, flowers, and the banana on the cover of the album The Velvet Underground & Nico(1967), as well as for his stylized portraits of twentieth-century celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe, Grace Jones, Elvis Presley, Judy Garland, and Elizabeth Taylor.
The artworks are primarily from the STIMA collection.
Since 1987, art has been rented and sold to private collectors and advised for corporate collections.
