Andy Warhol
(Pittsburgh, August 6, 1928 – New York, February 22, 1987) was a versatile American artist, film director, and author. He also worked as a music producer and actor. With his background in applied arts, Warhol became one of the prominent figures of pop art in the United States in the 1950s and 1960s. He is often referred to as the silver prince of pop.

Warhol is especially famous for his contrasting and flat paintings and screen prints of everyday objects such as Campbell’s soup cans, flowers, and the banana on the cover of the album The Velvet Underground & Nico (1967). He also created stylized portraits of twentieth-century celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe, Grace Jones, Elvis Presley, Judy Garland, and Elizabeth Taylor.

The artworks are primarily from the STIMA collection. Since 1987, art from this collection has been rented and sold to private collectors and advised for corporate collections.
