29. Champagne! - Gerdine Duijssens

Gerdine Duijsens, born in Utrecht and educated at the Academy of Art and the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgiumë is an artist who uniquely merges figuration and abstraction. Her work is steeped in lyrical expressionism and depicts scènes in which people take center stage, often set down in lush layers of color with powerful and expressive brushstrokes.

Her food and party scènes have become iconic and recognizable through four main elements: people, rich colors, expressionistic markings and portraits. The epicures she depicts –comical, blasé, cheerful or slightly bored, are her trademark. This distinctive style has earned Duijsens an internationally growing group of collectors and admirers.

 The artworks are primarily from the STIMA collection.

Since 1987, art has been rented and sold to private collectors and advised for corporate collections.
