Tasting notes
Delightfully soft wine with juicy fruit notes. The nose is slightly smoky with hints of pear and spring blossoms. The flavor is playful, rounded, and softly dry. A textbook example of why Pinot Grigio is so beloved.
Weingut Neiss
Located in the northernmost part of the Weinstrasse in the Pfalz, Weingut Neiss is run by Axel Neiss. In 1959, his father Ludi Neiss took over the family’s mixed farm, which included livestock, arable farming, and fruit cultivation. In the 1970s, Ludi and his wife switched entirely to viticulture and winemaking. After completing his oenology studies in Geisenheim in 1997, Axel took over the reins. Today, Weingut Neiss ranks among the top producers in the Pfalz.
Axel made fundamental improvements: he carefully selected and acquired top-quality vineyards, experimented with new grape varieties, and applied modern techniques. Since 2014, the winery has featured a new winemaking facility that allows him to vinify many small parcels separately. This lets him bring out the best in every terroir–grape combination. The vineyards in Kindenheim and Bockenheim lie high above the Rhine plain and benefit from a "cool climate" – exactly what modern winemakers are looking for.
