Carrera is a powerful visual dialogue between femininity and masculinity, focusing on the contrast between female forms and fast cars’s. As the male counterpart of We’ve Got This, this work explores themes of’speed, control, dominance and the fascination with coolness –classically coded as masculine.

The work was created in response to feedback from collectors that Laura’s work would be “too feminine”. Carrera reverses that judgment and plays with male desire – with a twist. In the details lie subtle references to dedication to the creative process and the ability to look at life with a wink. Beneath the glossy surface lies a layered story.
