Wine description:
Grapes were harvested at extremely low yields (just 20 hl/ha) — and you can taste the difference. Though technically outside the official Provence zone, this wine rivals the very best the region has to offer. On paper a humble country wine, in the glass an absolute gem.

The blend of Grenache and Carignan delivers southern French elegance with notes of rosehip, raspberry, and wild strawberry. Delicate on the palate with a surprising punch in the finish — thanks to the expressive Carignan, which adds depth and concentration. The color is traditional: “oeil de perdrix” (onion skin or “partridge eye”).

Winery:
Domaine de Peyre is steeped in history. Two thousand years ago, a Roman villa stood here along the ancient Via Domitia — France’s oldest road. The current 18th-century farmhouse was built on its foundations. But by 2012, the estate had fallen into ruin.

Enter journalist Patricia Alexandre and former hotelier Georges Antoun. What they found were neglected vines, dilapidated buildings, and a chapel used as a junk room. Today, the estate is fully restored: with a charming B&B, 20 hectares of vineyard, and a modern winery. Located in Haute-Provence in the Luberon nature reserve, some vines fall under the Ventoux appellation, others under IGP Méditerranée.

Domaine de Peyre is fully committed to sustainability. No herbicides, only natural fertilizers, active biodiversity protection, and careful balance with surrounding woodland. Certified HVE (High Environmental Value). They also reduce their carbon footprint with lightweight bottles, eco-friendly paper, and corks with a negative CO₂ footprint. In 2020, they proudly launched their first sulfite-free wine.

We began importing their wines in 2019 — alongside several French traders. The success was instant, and stocks quickly sold out. Now, with larger volumes and even better quality, the future is looking bright.
