Chianti Classico Riserva, 2020, Castello di Radda, Tuscany, Italy
1 box (6 bottles) €150.00 (recommended retail price incl. VAT)
Vivino: 3.9
Wine description:
Made from 100% Sangiovese grapes grown in high-altitude vineyards. Riserva means the wine has been aged for at least 20 months in oak barrels. It’s a complex wine with aromas of gingerbread and tobacco. Bright ruby in color, it reveals elegant notes of cherry, spice, and well-integrated oak. On the palate, it is refined and concentrated, with ripe acidity, bold berry flavors, and a subtle earthiness. Truly a remarkable wine.
Winery:
In 2003, Castello di Radda was acquired by the Beretta family, who purchased the estate to strengthen their presence in the wine industry. Despite its historical significance, the estate had been inactive for some time. Although the Berettas already owned several wineries, this was their first venture in Tuscany — a valuable addition.
Extensive investments were made to revitalize the 45-hectare property. Castello di Radda is located in the Chianti Classico region, just south of Florence. The vineyards overlook the town of Radda in Chianti and are spread across hills facing southeast to southwest. The soil consists of light clay (loam) and limestone — perfect for cultivating Sangiovese and Canaiolo. The high lime content and heat-retaining nature of the soil support even and optimal ripening.
