The Lotus Cortina MKII with Lucas mechanical fuel injection is a special and rare car. After the great success of the Lotus Cortina MKI, Ford introduced the Lotus Cortina MKII in 1967. In Europe, this model was sold under the name Ford Cortina Twin Cam. Like its predecessor, it was equipped with the famous Lotus 1600 Twin Cam engine, which in this version produced 4 hp more power. Unlike the first series, the second series was constructed differently by Ford and was available in all standard Ford colors. Nevertheless, 80% of these vehicles were delivered in the color Ermine White.
This example is an early, original Lotus Cortina MKII Series 1, built in 1967 and delivered to Sweden on July 2 of that year. This is one of the rare left-hand drive export models, of which only 622 were produced. A special feature of this vehicle is that it is equipped with an odometer instead of a mileage counter, which was common for export models.
With chassis number BA91GL85843, this is a very well-preserved example. The car is in good condition and is still in its original color. The bodywork is 100% solid with no rust or need for welding or paintwork. This Lotus Cortina has been owned by the current owner for over a decade and drove without any problems when purchased. The car is homologated for Group 5 and is registered in the Swedish Race Registry for track racing. The current dry sump system can easily be replaced with a standard oil sump, if desired. The car can be registered in any EU country and is equipped with a roll cage and Minilite rims. The original front and rear seats are also present.
A unique feature of this car is the rare Lucas mechanical fuel injection system, driven via a special belt on the camshaft, called the Belt Drive Injection pump system. This system is extremely rare and highly sought after, especially in the United Kingdom.
